So, I was finally forced to replace my system for something a little more.. new;
- Intel Duo Core 6320
- ASUS GeForce 8600 GTS
- 2Gb DDR2 memory
- 320 Gb SATAII Maxtor HD
I'm thinking about adding a second, 500GB SATAII HD on which I'll most likely install Windows Vista in the future. And I've already considered saving up some money on the side for something a little more high-end. I ran a 3D benchmark, the results of which can be seen here.
'Doom 3' and 'Quake 4' are very beautiful when you have the settings on 'ULTRA'. The latter of which I'm already done with and the first I'm saving for when I'm done with 'Far Cry'. 'Tomb Raider Legend', which I was unable to play on my older system, I completed as well and loved to bits. I ordered 'Tomb Raider Anniversary', the special edition thereof
and can't wait to play it. I've always loved and wanted a remake of the first game of the series. Aside from '..Legend', the rest of the series are pretty much shite if you ask me.
So yeah, 'Far Cry' would be awesome were it not for the annoying monsters that you get to deal with halfway through the game. It really takes away from that which makes the game work for me.
Ahh, I have 'Command & Conquer 3' lying on my stack as well. I can't wait to get around to that one.

Listening to: The Divinyls - Pleasure & Pain
The Wednesday after that, the 6th I believe, I decided not to go to class because I wasn't feeling up to it and spent some time with Nico & David at Seamus' again.
Saturday, the 9th of December, there was a LAN-party in Nieuwegein that I attended. I decided against dragging my computer over from Amsterdam and only went to hang out and talk to some of the people present.
Saturday, the 16th of December, was spent going to Centerparcs with Nico, David and Tony. The idea was to go swimming and play some pool and such afterwards, in the same park. I didn't feel like swimming at all and was looking forward to playing pool but as it turned out, I enjoyed the swimming a lot and didn't enjoy the games of pool at all. Mostly due to the fact that the pool tables were in the most awkward of places and had us asking people to stand up, move and whatnot so that we may take our shots.
Saturday, the 23rd, was spent at Seamus' again with Nico, David, Tony and Angelique. The evening was spent watching TV, playing games and burning things.
I know I'm already to late on wishing everyone a merry Christmas, so I hope everyone had a nice one and I wish everyone a happy new year, still.
I messed around with one of the photos I posted not too long ago in Photoshop and quite liked the end result;

Yesterday, Saturday the 25th was a pretty good day. I got woken up by the arrival of a well anticipated package; a new web-cam! Seeing as the last one's stand broke after having fallen down behind my desk for the millionth time. This new one, a Logitech Quickcam Fusion, is pretty good! I don't need to have a desk light in order to get on cam anymore, which is a relief. The night was spent at Nico's, who was well into his own things, resulting in me playing PS2 games most of the time. It was nice and I managed to get home the same night for once.
Anyway, I put my new cam to some good use, enjoy!

Saturday
Having spoken to Dennis (drums/keyboard) on the phone on Friday, we had agreed to meet up and have a jam session with just the two of us to see if we could combine our creative powers and come up with something of a song. Unfortunately we didn't get much done. Don't get me wrong, there was quite a lot of playing and such, but very little of it could actually be considered productive. After this jam session, which was from 6 till 9pm, I met up with Seamus at an excellent snack-bar near his house to get both him and me some food. With food in hand we then made our way over to his place, where Nico, Tony and Ingrid were waiting. After our 'dinner' and some good fun playing PS2 games, we set out to play some pool. Which was fun, as usual. Nico, who was sick, decided to go home afterwards and thus we all spent a good amount of time in the cold and rain, waiting for his bus home. Not long after he had departed, I picked up my things from Seamus' and went home as well, seeing as the others still wanted to go to a pub and I wasn't really in the mood for it.
Sunday
Another day spent mostly at home, catching up with my favorite series and hanging out with Rachel some.
I'll be updating soon again and hopefully with some new artwork to show and some guitar-work recorded and worth sharing.

Wednesday
I gave the Apple store a call to see whether I could pick up my new iPod yet, seeing as the maximum amount of ten workdays they said it would take had already passed and I hadn't received a call from them yet. The friendly girl on the phone told me I could and so I did. It's pleasant not to have struggle in order to turn your iPod off.
Before having left the house I had received in the mail a game for my PSP, the only game I was actually interested in and the only reason for me to get a PSP at all; namely 'Ultimate Ghosts And Goblins'. Well worth the money, especially as it seemed just as challenging as I had read it would be when I gave it a quick try.
Due to a lack of artwork from my side in a good while; here's some stuff I've sketched out during two of my recent art classes;
- 01/11/2006; just something quick
- 01/11/2006; Something Halloweenish
- 08/11/2006; NSFW - a pretty boy demon?
- 08/11/2006; NSFW - lady
- 08/11/2006; A tribute to my new iPod
Feedback is more then welcome as always

Friday;
After having worked from 9am till 5.30pm, I decided to go to Mijdrecht, to visit Nico and get with the 'hanging outing' as we say. I went by my house quickly before leaving Amsterdam to pick up my current PS2 addictions: Devil May Cry 3 and Burnout 3: Takedown, both of which were mentioned in an earlier post. When I finally got there -it's about an hour and a half's worth traveling- we watched an episode of Dexter, a new series which I emediately fell in love with; something Nico had already predicted would happen. Anyway, after having spent quite a lot of time doing the same race over and over again on account of my failure in Burnout 3 and time having moved on, I had to go home. Seeing as the local bus companies have the tendency to suck, I had decided to take not the last bus, but the one before that. Obviously the site that shows the times never works properly, which ended up in me missing the bus and the last bus not showing up at all. Which means I had to sleep at Nico's.
Saturday;
After having ignored the alarm on my phone a few times, Nico was as kind as to get me up and out of bed by suddenly kicking the door in (not litterly) and yelling at me. Which worked rather well in getting me up and out of bed. After playing some more games, we watched the latest episode of 'Battlestar Galactica', not too long after which I got on the bus and went home. On the way home I was contacted by David, who confirmed that that there'd be a 'get toguether' (as we say) at Nico's place that night, as Nico had already predicted. So after having gotten home, having taken a shower, practiced guitar a tad bit and gathering some things, I left my house again and got on the bus back to his. David and Ingrid got back from getting themselves something to eat shortly after I arrived. It was fun; 'Black' was played, 'Nacho Libre' was watched (eventhough I couldn't see it through to the end, myself) 'and happiness reigned supreme'.
Sunday;
Aside from the usual guitar practice, gaming and watching things, I spent some time with Rachel at hers.

Anyway..
I've gotten off my lazy ass and've started reading again, a while back now. And I'm glad to say that after having finished 'Interview With The Vampire', 'The Vampire Lestat' and 'Queen Of The Damned', I'm now reading the fourth book in the 'The Vampire Chronicles' series, called 'The Tale Of The Body Thief'. I'm enjoying it quite alot, much to my surprise. The name and it's attached concept didn't really entice my interest much, but it's quite nice. Let me just quote you something; a small description given by Lestat about Louis:
"He had grieved for me, I'll give him that much. But then he is so good at grieving! He wears woe as others wear velvet; sorrow flatters him like the light of candles; tears become him like jewels."
Ahhh, how could anyone not fall in love with such a person? Or is that really just me? Yeah, that's quite alot like someone I know (to say the least), isn't it?
To me it's very obvious though, that Anne Rice didn't intend to write the rest of the books when she wrote the first. And especially not with Lestat as the main character. I might be wrong on this and some, if not all of you, might just go 'duh' on me here, but I don't know the actual deal on this one. I just think it's a shame that Lestat went from being an asshole to being the good guy who only feeds on the evildoer and the wicked. And he explains the behaviour we see in the first book, I believe in the second book if not the third, as always having been misunderstood. The description of his youth and his past as a vampire were really interesting and fun to read though.
I do think it's quite hypocritical of me, by the way, that as someone who always complains about society's need to find entertainment in other people's lives (ie. reality soaps and shows), comedy shows and whatnot, I so enjoy the shows that I do. 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Lost', 'Supernatural', 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Metalocalypse' to name a few off the top of my head. 'Heroes', which I've only seen the first episode of, by the way seemed very promising aswell. Thank you Nico for introducing us to it.
Well then, I've written more then enough about nothing now, I'm off to record some guitarwork.

Listening to: Atreyu - Her Portrait In Black
It's been a good while since I've updated this journal. Well, with anything other then lyrics to a song or something else that might be considered 'angsty' by others, that is. And I really don't have that much to write about, but it's three in the morning and for once I don't have anything to do because I've already done everything I wanted and had to do earlier today. So what've I been upto..? Not a whole lot. Working my ass off, I suppose. Paying bills, playing a small selection of games, practicing a hell of a lot of guitar and working on art.
The small collection of games isn't really much of a collection, seeing as it's just two games: Devil May Cry 3 aaand Burnout 3: Takedown. I still have to finish Final Fantasy X, which I'm near the end of. Oh and let's not forget Final Fantasy X2, which I've owned for almost two years now and yet, surprisingly, the DVD discs haven't ever left the box let alone have they ever touched my Playstation 2. I'm completely comsumed by the first two games mentioned, though. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't think I've played a game as challenging as Devil May Cry 3 in quite some time.
I got together with David and Dennis twice in the past few months and once with Dennis alone to see whether or not we could work as a band. We did alot of fun things together and right now we're in one of those stages where we're all working on some material in order to have something to play the next time we decide to meet up. I'm quite enjoying this, eventhough it's proving to be a little more difficult then I expected.
Then, I think it was a week or two ago when I set out to buy myself some new CD's and came home with;
Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine (2005)
Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side (2006)
My Dying Bride - The Angel And The Dark River (1995)
Slayer - Reign In Blood (1986)
Slayer - Christ Illusion (2006)
I haven't listened to the 'My Dying Bride' as much, but I've been enjoying the fuck out of the others.
And still on the subject of music, I'm missing my iPod, seeing as I finally got off my lazy ass and took it back to the store. For those who want to know why, the lower half of the click-wheel had been responding badly, when it did, that is, for the last, what.. two months?
As for my artwork; I've been doing a bunch of pictures on paper (minus the coloring) and I've been working on a few things digitally aswell. It's just not going as fast as it used to because the other things take up most of my time.
So.. Who's missed me?

So can someone, anyone maybe enlighten me as
to why noone has assassinated or attempted to
assassinate Uwe Boll as of yet?
I thought it couldn't possibly be any worse then
'House Of The Dead' and 'Alone In The Dark,
but I was very much wrong.
I'm pretty certain, seeing as the cast consists
of quite a few solid names, that they delivered
good performances at some point, but that Uwe Boll
sat in the editing room and deliberately picked
out the worst takes to be used. My God.. The man
has to be stopped. Though I'm much more grateful
now then ever before that John Woo bought the
movie-rights to the 'Metroid'-series. And
that Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) wants nothing
to do with the fucker.

Johnny's antics..

Feeling:
impressed
Listening to: Demons & Wizards - Terror Train
It's been a little while since my last entry. And a good while since I've actually written about any events that've occured in my life. There's a few things I want to be known, Johnny related.
First of; somewhere halfway march (last month), he donated a lovely acoustic guitar to me after having it repaired at the shop due to problems with one of the tuning pegs. Obviously the problem wasn't completely solved and I've been too lazy to go back to the store to demand they fix it properly. I've really been enjoying this new guitar alot though and so has the skin on my fingers.
Second; Seeing as Johnny always wanted to teach me how to drive and I never fully gave in before, I asked him if I could have a go at it about a week ago. We went to the local harbor around midnight (which was abandoned by then), where I had my fun. The last few times I tried to drive, it went alright, but this time he was actually really impressed with the way I drove. On a long straight road, I actually went about a hundred kilometers an hour at some point, which I think is roughly the same as sixty-five miles an hour..? It was fun and I've been hungry for more.
Third, something that happened last night. We hung out together, seeing as we planned on going to Cyberia but ended up not going. I got home really late from work, due to NS-delay-type problems and was really dead-tired. And he just didn't overly feel like going but wanted to come along so that I wouldn't be there on my own. So instead of going to a party we weren't in the mood for, we went driving around some. He showed me the locations of his new job and seeing as we passed a McDonalds that was still open around the time (0.30) we were doing this, I insisted on having something to eat. Seeing as the restaurant itself was already closed, we were sitting in the car, eating while talking. When out of nowhere there's a loud thump and a bit of a shock that could be felt throughout the entire vehicle. A car had just passed us by at really high speed and had hit what felt like the side of Johnny's car. His face was indescribable as he kept his eyes on the car for a few seconds. It was a twenty to thirty meter road afterall and it was slowing down while approaching the corner at the end of it. It didn't stop however and Johnny threw whatever it was he was holding at the time in my general direction to start the car and go after it. By GOD he went fast. It took him a second, maybe two to get to the corner the other car went around and in the meantime, having seen all this happen, I was trying to get my seatbelt on. But everybody knows that when you roughly tug a seatbelt it doesn't 'come loose'. So I sat there thinking 'shit, shit, SHIT, SHIT', tugging and pulling at the damn thing as Johnny went around the corner. So by the time he gets around the corner, he actually sees the car that had hit him coming to a halt infront of a stoplight. He quickly goes after it, drives around it and parks his car infront of it. By this time my seatbelt gave way, ofcourse. Johnny had barely stopped the car or he had gotten out and walked over to the driver of the other car. Mind you, he was wearing all black, eyeliner and had fire in his eyes while he approached the guy. I didn't hear everything that was said but one of the few things I did catch was 'don't tell me you didn't feel that'. The guy was scared shitless and got out of his car at Johnny's command. He was saying how he was sorry and that he'd get his damage forms and everything. Johnny walked back over to this car and examined things, seeing that the only 'damage' done was that his side mirror had been slammed out of it's hinge. He put it back in place and ended up letting the guy go (who was litterly shaking with fear and according to Johnny might have had something to drink or been tired), due to the fact that he realised he didn't have a few things with him (or so he said). Wow.. All I've got to say is this; DO NOT FUCK WITH JOHNNY, 'cause he will fuck you up. It was kinda sexy though.
Right. As for the angst everyone has come to consider a normal part of my journal, I wrote this a week or two ago (God, I hate rhyme);
Two;
Sometimes it seems there's nothing left of my sanity,
I should've known mine was only a temporary serenity
All these thoughts, this mind's become so chaotic,
The one who brought this, still so angelic
Her pain, sorrow and grief I'm still deeply in love with,
Before her, true love and submission were nothing but a myth
Something conjured up by me to live for,
Something that's now imbedded in my very core
How could one settle for less after perfection?
Her departure; my heart and soul's deadly infection
Her reasons for this infliction I'll never fully comprehend,
Cold and dead inside, I'll sit and wait for the end

Listening to: Hans Teeuwen - Zo Alleen
Ik voel me zo alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen.
Ga met me mee..
En laat me niet alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen.
Laat me niet alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen, alleen.

Listening to: Siebenbürgen - Born Under A Black Sun
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Feeling:
crappy
Listening to: Phil Collins - Let It Rain Down
I was wrong in thinking just that, as she fucked me over and left me with my pain renewed. (Most) Women are scum.
Anyway.. A few centuries back I made this picture (some of you may remember it):

Why am I bringing this (crappy picture) up? Because I decided to redo it;

(EDIT: Photobucket has resized the new version. You can get the proper version HERE)
Comments and/or critique..?
